Holy Shit!
A whole bunch of Edgerunners 2 stuff has been dropped this weekend.
Apparently there's only 4 members of the crew this time, but they all look really cool.
We have a 'Saka ninja turned maelstrom-er an ex-nomad turned netunner, a child, and a washed up legend.
They also announced a release date.
Fall 2026
Yep. It's this year. :)
That feels incredibly soon, especially after the production announcement was only this time last year. I'm worried that the story might feel rushed and the animation won't be as good as previous.
I think these worries mostly stem from the disastrous JJBA release (or lack of) earlier this year, which has now become next year, due to the fact that both of them are being produced by Netflix.
It's been really hard to find the info that they have released however.
I really don't like how they've done this.
They haven't put anything out on their official website. Nor on their discord server.
Instead, they've put half of the info out on their twitter feed (ew), and the other half has been dropped by various influencers on TikTok and instagram.
Very cyberpunk of them, though not in a good way. >:-(
Furthermore, very unfortunately, due to Edgerunners' popularity, all the world's normies and stupid folk have come out of the woodwork with opinions they just *have* to share.
Needless comparisons, dissing their designs/appearances. Like c'mon, it's been a day. No one even asked you bud. Sit back down.
There are also things that are just wrong. Or stupid. Or both.
I get that most people aren't megafans like me. I get that most people haven't seen the show recently.
But for the love of god, can you think for just a minute before you hit send.
Y'know, I saw one guy complaining about the lack of blackwall related discussion in the first season. Like, hello? There's a whole character who's backstory is blackwall related? And she's also one of the main characters?
Normally I'd blacklist the topic from my media feeds, but because I actually want to be up and current with the news of this series, I'll have to remain exposed to bullshit like this.
I don't get why people don't talk about the things in this series that they're excited to see.
Why diss their design or whatever, when you can talk about the first nomad to be introduced into the Cyberpunk Cinematic Universe. As well as the first male netrunner, though that isn't really worth anything at all is it. I still think it's cool though. As a male netrunnner myself (most of the time, genderfluid problems you catch me?) I want to see people I want to model myself after. I love D's jacket. Sadly, I don't think I could pull it off. The blue is too blue for me, and I'm not very tall either.
I'd love to see if there's a queer character in there. A they/them perhaps. That would be so cool. Maybe even a furry (in cyberpunk, they call them exotics! People who have had modifications like cat ears or cat eyes. Mainly the animals have these done, they're very expensive I think (IIRC)).
I really don't see why they couldn't do this. It's a future where body modification is accessible to everybody at any time. Well, if you have the eddies.
Well that's all from me.
Still getting the hang of writing blogs if you can believe it. I want to write only positive things, but I always seem to be complaining about something or other come the end of it.
I think the next thing you can expect from me is a review of the new Ghost in the Shell anime coming out in a week and a half. I've already seen the first two episodes and some behind the scenes at my local cinema ;) 9/10 from me so far.
